The Land of the Long White Espresso
(Alan Gebbie)

Totally wired and I'm feeling tired - can't decide on coffee or tea
You can't peruse if you want the news cause its buried on page 23
An eye for an eye the people cry about the victims family
Someones to pay for their dismay - but not me

That man fishing he's just wishing his thoughts would leave him alone
He tows a fine line through the deep green brine and then its time to go home
He's watching sport with lumbar support, alcohol and nicotine
He lifts one finger to linger on a gruesome scene

From the shoreline to the edge of the snow
The picture shows
In the land of the long white espresso

Your giant vegetables are quite incredible lined up in a row
Its no contest their simply the best - how deep does your topsoil go
You've got it made in that leafy shade of that apple blossom tree
While taking out time to pour out cups of tea

From the beaches to the shores of Taupo
The gardens grow
In the land of the long white espresso

Row a boat somewhere remote and tie up to a tree
Someone smiled about a hundred miles and they broke my mood in three
The weather's hot and there are quite a lot of swimmers in the sea
But give it three months and it will be time to ski

From the shoreline to the edge of the snow
That's how it goes
In the land of the long white espresso
